With the 2019/2020 NH season ending prematurely soon after Cheltenham, we have had to forego the joys of the Aintree and Punchestown Festivals this year. However, with lockdown in place, we will hopefully all enjoy a full winter’s season next time around.
The highlights for Highflyer were undoubtedly Clan Des Obeaux’s romp to victory in the Grade 1 King George VI Chase on Boxing Day and Politologue’s impressive win in the Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham, in the absence of the resurgent Altior who had cosily won his trial race but then had to miss Cheltenham. The top two-mile novice hurdlers at Cheltenham were Shishkin (Supreme) and Concertista (Mares’ Novice) in their respective divisions and in all, Highflyer purchases won 40 Graded/Listed races over the jumps in this shortened season.
